Watch the service HERE. The Day of Atonement is the most sacred holy day in Judaism and the culmination of the Days of Awe. It takes places on October 12th this year. As we meet the day after, which is also the day before Indigenous People’s Day, we’ll explore the complex question: Who Will Atone? How is atonement different than apology? From repentance? Do the reparations we often hear of or the land acknowledgements we speak offer genuine repair in the face of despair and destruction? Who will atone for histories and current conflicts drenched in tears? During the service, we’ll participate in a Litany of Stones and Ashes. Rev. Robin Landerman Zucker, preaching with Worship Leader Rev. Suzie Matranga-Watson. Music from Mary Reese and a Time for All Ages from Tara Toler. Spirited Conversations to follow the service.
