Watch the service HERE. The Rev. Kaaren Anderson has written about a time when she put down her book to ponder her own hands, what they touch and experience and create. “I don’t want smooth hands,” she tells us. “I want mine to speak to my person, to my life’s work, to the sum of my parts. I stare at my hands and whisper, ‘Amen.” In this service in anticipation of Labor Day, we’ll explore the power of our hands to create, to labor, to meditate or pray, to communicate love, to cast a vote, to give “life the shape of justice.” We’ll share a “Blessing of The Hands Ritual” and hear a reflection from Anne Nesse, accompanied by her photographs of hands. Rev. Robin Landerman Zucker, preaching with Worship Leader Patty Walsh. Music from Barbara Stevens and a Time for All Ages from Kathie Loveall.
Please bring something for an altar
that represents the labor or creation of your hands.
