Reverend Millie Phillips will speak on the theme of “Trust”, a topic she sometimes struggles with and is glad to take on. If you’ve ever been abused by someone who was supposed to love and care for you, stabbed in the back by an unscrupulous colleague, or shared a shameful secret only to have it exposed to others, then you probably know how hard it is to trust. Though it makes sense not to trust someone who has already betrayed or victimized us, is it fair or useful to extend that mistrust to everyone? How do we regain a sense of trust? How much can we risk to trust again?
This is a Pulpit Share with Mid-Columbia UU Fellowship
Reverend Phillips is currently the Affiliated Community Minister at her home congregation, the UU Society of San Francisco. She lives in Oakland and works full-time as a faith outreach organizer for the non-profit East Bay Alliance for a Sustainable Economy.
