Watch the service HERE. All world religions focus on what it means to live with integrity and in tune with spiritual truths. We try to ward off harm with everything from crystals, amulets, spells and astrology; we try to win God’s favor with prayers, mantras, offerings and rule-following. The Hebrew prophet Micah, as his land was under threat, expresses to God the desperation of his people. And then he reminds them, they already know what pleases God. They know how to live. God asks us to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly in God’s presence. Worship Leader: Rev. Sue Matranga-Watson
Caroline Kurtz is the founder and fearless leader of Maji Development Coalition, whose mission is to accompany the people of the Maji District in SW Ethiopia as they pursue community development for the flourishing of mind, body and soul. As a child in Ethiopia, Caroline absorbed the sights, sounds, smells and customs of Africa, the subject of her memoir Down on Both Sides: Growing up in America and Ethiopia. Later, she taught, advocated for women, and supported peacemaking in Ethiopia and Sudan—experiences described in her second memoir, Today is Tomorrow.
